I went with a friend tonight to a dress shop so she could try on her wedding dress. She is getting married next year in the States, but she is having the dress made here because it is significantly less expensive. The guy's shop is tiny and the 'dressing room' was just a curtain hanging from a bar on the ceiling. And oh yeah, on the other side of that purple cloth is a bustling street down below. This dress already has such a great story!

remembering

When I was little, my Pawpaw and I used to go out to the local airport, eat Rolos, watch the planes land and take off, and talk about all the different kinds of airplanes. Whenever I see Rolos, I always think of him. I've never seen them in stores here until today. Lots of great memories.

thankful

This was my view for much of the weekend. I had such a good time relaxing and laughing with my friends. I feel so blessed to have opportunities like this.

the difference a day makes

Ahh....that's much better. The weather was amazing today and we all got a good dose of Vitamin D. This is one of my favorite places on earth.

So my friends and I traveled outside of the city this weekend to get some fresh air and this is what we were greeted with. Things promise to look better tomorrow!

Yes, please. I went over to a friends house to catch up on 24 tonight. Another friend dropped by with some freshly baked banana cake (yum!) and we ended up doing more talking than 24 watching...OK by me.

I went grocery shopping today. You have no idea how thankful I am to have a working refrigerator.

I spent the day at home, resting up from the week. I can't get over these red flowers on the tree outside my apartment. So pretty!

My team is hosting a training conference this week for some locals. This guy greets you at the entrance of the meeting room. He's one of the heroes of the faith because he killed a dragon. This particular statue is missing his sword...that's probably for the best.

I had an impromptu dinner and a movie night with a few friends. I haven't laughed this hard in a movie in a long time. Hilarious!

one stop shopping AND delivery??

I could get used to that. I went on an errand today fully expecting to make several stops, but the first place I went had everything I needed, and then they delivered it to my door. I love the small things that make your day!

There was a big party at the orphanage today to celebrate some of the kids' 1st Communion. Even Mary got dressed up for the occasion!

I celebrated Cinco de Mayo tonight (yes, on May 6. yes, in Africa.) with my friends. We played games, laughed a lot and ate some awesome Mexican food.

My camera has developed a spot on the lens and I'm sad to say I'm sending it home with Mom today. She has graciously given me hers to last me until I get back to the States. This camera has been through a lot with me...several continents and thousands of miles.
